The Makery is the heartbeat of Kidzu! It is dedicated to “maker education” and STREAM learning (science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and math). Visitors of all ages use the design process to create; crafting with materials, tinkering with real tools, and exploring new technologies. In Kidzu’s Virtual Makery, we show you how to use the design process to design and engage in STEAM projects from home!
What's happening in the Virtual Makery?
What is the Design Process?
The design process is a way to solve problems through creating. Also known as the engineering process, it is a series of steps ANYONE can use to engineer, invent, or design! The steps include:
Ask: What do you want to do? What problem do you want to solve?
Imagine: Brainstorm lots of ways you could solve the problem.
Plan: Pick an idea and plan how you are going to make it.
Create: Design and build!
Improve: Test your design. How can you change your design to make it better?
